08/12/2012- 31/08/2015 : Laundry Assistant, Greenfields Care Home, St. Helens (part-time)
I am currently working in care home as a Laundry Assistant and cleaner. I need to be aware of the COSHH legislation and Infection Control. There is some moving and handling involved with distribution of clothes. My duties as a Laundry Assistant include the collection of clothes from collection points and the clothes need to be categorized in accordance with each residences’ room. For instance, the dark coloured items need to be separated the light, whereas the linen is washed separately. The tumble drier is used for drying specific items and all sweaters are to be washed on ‘woollen’ mode. Once the clothes have been ironed, I place them on hangers. Personal items are placed into the residents’ private container. On completion of the aforementioned, the clothes are returned to the residents’ room.
8/2008 – 06/2011 : English Instructor, Kunshan International School, China
During my time at Kunshan International School, I conducted and organised English, Social Studies and Science lessons. The teacher was required to organise and participate in various school activities, such as: holiday celebrations, Science Fair, English related competitions and school trips. I implemented various methods and activities into my lessons, and thrived on the challenge of teaching students from diverse cultures. I covered a wide range of learning aspects, which included grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. For assessment purposes, I applied formative and summative methods to differentiate between the different levels of pupils.
2009-2011 : Manager, Kunshan Allstars Football Club, Jiangsu, China
As team manager, I had to manage the team, promote football in China and ensure all players were correctly registered for tournaments. I had to maintain records of all club-related funds and attend all meetings arranged by the football committee. The team required a sponsor to furnish all the funds. Therefore, potential investors were encouraged to invest in the club for assistance in purchasing shirts, equipment and so forth. I was also responsible for kit and equipment, and I always encouraged my players to give feedback during and after training.
16/8/2007 –16/12/2007 : T.E.F.L course, Beijing, China
I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the T.E.F.L. course, due to discovering the unique world of teaching English as a Foreign Language. As a trainee, I completed a daily learning journal, culminating in a one thousand word conclusion. The focus of the critical reflection was based on the learning outcomes that are applied to the methodology of teaching. The course introduced teaching topics, such as, classroom management, assessment and phonology. The course incorporated certain aspects of teaching strategies, which included some of the following: approaches to language learning; lesson planning models; classroom management; teaching young learners; phonetics and linguistics. Probably the most valuable part of the course was thirty hours of teaching practice and observation of pupils and peers. The entire experience was invaluable to any trainee teacher and it provided me with the spring-board to teach with confidence in Asia.
10/2001 – 01/2006 : Senior Engineer, British Royal Navy, Portsmouth, PO BOX 333, England
I completed an Engineering Principles course at HMS Collingwood. At this institution, I gained knowledge of building and testing electronic equipment. The course enhanced my engineering skills by selecting materials, moving loads and applying quality control procedures. Subsequently, I was selected for promotion to leading hand based on knowledge and leadership skills demonstrated whilst onboard ship. . .
