-      1987 –1992: ESL/TEFL in a range of private language schools and companies  in and around Barcelona, Spain. All fields: Business, Law, Architecture, Engineering, Town Planning, Accounting.

-      Small groups/one-on-one (adults and adolescents). Cambridge/Oxford books.

-      Experience with multimedia language labs./large and small groups/one-on-one classes.

-      Purchasing Private tutoring in multi-nationals (Nissan, Ikea, Riverside, etc.). Business English. Boards of directors and all corporate departments.

-      Summer camps for children (adolescents).

-      Freelance translation/consecutive interpretation for a wide range of agencies/ multinationals in Catalonia and Madrid (subjects covering all corporate issues -all departments- town planning, tourism, arts, architecture, etc.).

-      1996  –1998: Freelance translation and corporate teaching.

-    1998  –2002 Five year English Training Programme for large     Catalan  multinational in Barcelona (Carburos Metalicos): In-house trainer (reference Laura).

*Task: improvement of staff language levels, top to bottom. Business                       and Technical English.

      * 150 students (adults, all levels, all corporate departments).

      * Engineers, lawyers, architects, medical division, HR,

  purchasing department.

* One-on-one intensive courses, special courses on telephone English, presentations, grammar, etc.

* Also responsible for translation of all Global Health and Safety Norms into Spanish (3 year project).

-      2002 – 2008:  Moved permanently to own olive farm (Tarragona/Catalonia - Spain).

·        Restored and rebuilt houses using Catalan traditional methods/integrated systems/solar power/off-the-grid old stone farmhouses.

·        Classes for children and adults (Ages 3-18). All levels.

·        IELTS Program. Writing and speaking components.

·        Active, dynamic, activity and project focused classes.

·        SAT reading and basic maths language. Elements of critical analysis. Classes based on Analysis of Newspaper articles. Business English classes. Advanced grammar.

2010 Feb– 2012 Feb: Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, Dalian, China.

-      Holistic communications facilitator

-      Freshmen/Sophomores/Juniors/Seniors.

-      Preparation of students for IELTS exam, bands 5-8.

-      One-on-one coaching for IELTS, BEC,  conversation

-      Pioneered the introduction of workshops as an alternative to classroom environment.

-      Special mandate by the DEAN to develop experimental classes, student-centred classes (Reference Ian).

-      Grammar specialist, advanced grammar and translation options, text analysis.

-      Introduced student-centred and holistic learning methods.

-      Personal Development Coordinator for staff with a mission to promote student-centred models with teachers acting as facilitators.

-      Pioneered and introduced a Global Perspectives Film and Documentary Initiative. Critical analysis and debate. Most popular extra-curricular course at the university (See references from Ian Clark/Dawn/Joy).

-      International Culture Day Coordinator with Student Union.

-      Involvement and liaison with the Student Representation Group on countless extracurricular activities with a view to building bridges for enhanced communication.

-      Charity activities with students and a judge in many debating competitions.

-      Curriculum design of grammar elements and generation of ppts support material and lesson plans for all levels.

-      Special task from DEAN of improving the learning environment.

·        May – June 2012 – Replacement teacher -(large private International English High/Junior School near Hangzhou/China).

Two months in the Kindergarten (ages 3-6) and primary school/standard program (ages 6-10) and Cambridge weekend course (ages 8-12)

·        July- August/Sep 2012:  Thailand –Substitute teacher (Surin, Nakon Sawan rural area) - 3 different  high schools (M1-M6). (Excellent reference available).

·        October 2012- International School in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province China. Substitute for 3 months, primary grade 2, class-master, USA Curriculum (Trophies Book). All aspects:  writing, handwriting, grammar, reading, listening, speaking, phonics.

·        May 2013 - Academic school year in high school in Southern Thailand M1-M6.

·        January 2014 - September 2014 - Set up rural project in Kui Buri area 4 small schools. Kindergarten, Junior (P1- 6), High School (M1 - M3) and local government offices. (Reference available).

·        September 2014- Luzhou High School, Sichuan/China. Senior high school level one and in Hejiang branch school,  grade 1 (junior school) and kindergarten! Large groups of 60 kids, using self-generated ppts and  multimedia tools to stimulate, create interest and encourage debate. Communications and conversation classes. Need to manage 2800 students over two week cycle!

·        September 2014 – Ongoing cooperation in three other private language schools (references available), special events/activities, one on one tutoring.

·        July/August 2015: Private tutoring Kui Buri area/Prechuap Khirikhan. Specializing in active games and activities for children. 

Education

1978 – Matriculation RBHS/Cape Town, South Africa (special interests - English/French/History).

1986 – Graduated from the University of Cape Town, BA Degree.

Triple major in French, German and Italian (Translation and Literature)

1988 – 1989 Honors Degree in French/linguistics and translation via Unisa (Correspondence University of South Africa (Thesis on Marguerite Duras) while living in Barcelona/Spain.

2008 – 40 Hour online I-to-I TEFL certificate.

A range of short language/teacher training courses.

2010 – 240 hour TESOL course.

2010 – Korea – Cambridge Day - Raymond Murphy Workshop.
