Responsibilities:-
Safety:
• Ensures that employees adhere to standard safety regulations • Serves on the safety committee of BP as a representative • Ensures that safe working procedures are in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements including that of the clients are followed • Adheres to dangerous goods requirements • Safety correspondence recorded on drivers file.
Technical Work:
• Ensures that vehicles are maintained according to specification and monitored during and after each trip • Ensure the departure of vehicles timeously per customer service level • Monitoring of vehicles by means of GPS satellite tracking and vehicle effectiveness for ‘On Time Delivery’ • Ensures the team provides the customer a quality service and projects a professional image at all times.
Scheduling:
• Planning in advance the daily delivery routes and schedules to ensure that maximum vehicle utilization is achieved in terms of productivity and at the same time delivering on service.
Pre-Trip Preparations:
• Ensures that pre-trip inspections are carried out properly by the drivers • Ensuring that the vehicles and drivers have the necessary equipment on board in terms of fire extinguishers, spill kits etc. • Briefing and debriefing of drivers regarding what is required of them in terms of service delivery.
Post-Trip Administration:
• Inspection of trip reports and documents of completed loads • Ensuring that specific details are adhered too pertaining to client request.
Operation Constraints:
• Monitoring work in progress and taking remedial action when necessary to ensure that operational problems such as those relating to access, law enforcement, hours of work, spillages, losses etc. are accounted for. • Monitor reporting of unresolved operational problems to the Contract Manager.
Reporting:
• Interacting with the Contract Manager on an ongoing basis in order to keep him/her informed of developments within the operation • Interacting with support functions (eg. Outside workshops, personnel, wages etc) to assist in the resolution of problems. • Daily reporting completed promptly and accurately.
Relationship Within / Outside:
• Interaction at all levels within the company including the Contract Manager • Interaction with managers and supervisors of the customer and the clients customer
