April 2014- Rockies English, Dalian
I have taught children and young adults at Rockies from 6-18 years old and it has been a great experience to date. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with a broad range of students in helping them to attain a greater level of English proficiency. I have worked extremely hard to help the company throughout its many centres in Dalian and often traveling long distances, by public transport, to cover classes.
December 2012-April 2014 Gymboree, Dalian
Gymboree requires its teaching staff to be able to speak a certain degree of oral English, I was hired to help the Chinese staff learn English and also give them a western perspective on the delivery of the programme. This was a great experience for me as it allowed me to be creative in the way that I taught English, and gave me some really good ideas on how to teach which may not have come so easily in the classroom environment. Furthermore it gave me a good insight into the way a successful Chinese business operated and approached sales targets.
December 2013- Focus On Dalian
Since December 2013 I have gained experience as a journalist, contributing to the magazine ‘Focus on Dalian.’ This has been a great experience for me as writing, as well as proof reading and editing Chinese contributors work, was something is something I am passionate about and it given me the opportunity to write on a wide range of subjects. I have written music reviews and travel guides about cities here in China and in Europe, furthermore it has given me a greater understanding of both the Chinese and foreign community in Dalian by liaising with the multi national staff base which comprise the writers of the magazine.
