Shelter Legal
January 2013-Present
Legal Research Assistant/ Families Unit Assistant
• Helping the solicitors process Legal Aid forms, using a large case management system (CICM) to extract information, and organizing it to present a case for funding.
• Assisting solicitors in finding applicable case law and legislation that they can present at court.
• Communicating and conversing with both clients and the opposing legal teams for additional information or clarification.
• Writing articles for publication in the Shelter national newsletters and online blog.
• I also assisted with the families unit of the company over summer, which culminated in a group of disadvantaged children aged 6-16 performing a successful theatre show for their parents. This was incredibly enjoyable and gave me practical experience in working with young people.
