Institution: Meten, Xiamen, China

Duty: Teach adults English and Business (part-time)

I also offer 1-to-1 tutorials for driven students who seek rapid personal growth and to climb the career ladder. I am also part of an advisory board to improve the curricula for primary and secondary students in Xiamen for a primary English language centre.      

Year: Feb2018-Jul2018                     Title: Vice Principal

Institution: American Concordia International School (Hong Kong/China)

Duty: I updated our website and I created teacher and parent handbook. I  participated in public speeches to get new customers and I liaised with CEO/head of school of a strategy to get more students and how to keep them. I hired faculty staff members, and I promoted the school for prospective parents, besides, writing admission letters to parents. The reason for leaving the school was that shareholders disagreed with the government and a school shut down was inevitable.

What I achieved: We got 60 paying students in less than 2 months. My CEO rewarded me to vice Principal within 1 month after my contract start. He saw a positive attitude, a strong leadership ability and valuable communication skills, on top of a strong business acumen, which led to his decision.  

What I learned: I learned what marketing activities work to attract parents and students, and I learned what study environment is needed to attract parents with high requirements. I also learned how to communicate with parents and how to handle stubborn colleagues and troublesome kids.

Year: Sep2017-Mar2018                    Title: University Lecturer

Institutions: The Open University; HoaSen University; National University of Vietnam IEI; University Finance Marketing (Vietnam)

Duty: I planned and executed university modules for undergraduates, in the fields of communication, leadership, business management, business planning, marketing, and English. I prepared syllabi, weekly assignments with group work, mid-term exams and final exams and I marked the exams. I left Vietnam because I was offered the role of director of admissions at Concordia International school (see above).   

What I achieved: My student polls exceeded 85% student satisfaction, and I received 3 director and academic references supporting my ability to plan and execute courses for a mature and demanding university audience.  

What I learned: I learned that university students are eager to work in groups, and to participate in well-planned classroom discussions that can help them to understand key themes of the syllabi. I also learned that students truly admire personal feedback on their assignments and essays, and I spent a lot of free time to plan my modules, and to provide student feedback through email, and in the classroom.

Year: 2016                          Title: Online Guest Lecturer  

Institution: University of Manchester (England)

Duty: Offered career training online for undergraduate and graduate students covering how to get a job, how to prepare for an international career, and how to communicate and impact senior leaders. I also did similar sessions for Vietnamese students based in Hanoi, as part of offering my experiences of how to achieve (A A A) at the university and how to get a job in today’s competitive job market

Duty: Educated colleagues and managers in soft skills, and our technical systems, and I was responsible for planning and executing these courses. I was also responsible for planning projects including risks, budgeting, and activity planning. I was cooperating with Ericsson in the role of sole-trader and independent consultant, and I earned the contracts by negotiating with C-level decision makers

What I learned: Learned to communicate, critique and evaluate academic findings, and to plan advanced academic papers with a mix of primary and secondary data, and according to British standards
